Directions to CPAT Facility:
From I-465 Exit at West 10th Street, make an immediate left turn on High School Rd. Entrance is located between 10th Street and Rockville Rd. just South of the pond. Look for The Grand Hall at Westlake Gardens Entrance sign, turn in, park at Grand Hall. The CPAT building is farthest South on East Side, across from the Tower.

ESEC Refund Policy:
Note: All cancellations must be in writing and emailed or mailed to ESEC before refund will be issued.
* 100% Refund Four (4) weeks prior to start date
* 50% Refund Between two (2) and four (4) weeks prior to start date
* No Refund After (2) weeks prior to start date
* There will be a $10 charge on all credit card refunds due to charges incurred by ESEC

Reason:
We are finding that some people that wish to participate in CPAT are highly intimidated or very nervous about the CPAT test. These things could be enough to slow a person down and receive a time greater than the 10:20 that is allowed to pass. CPAT is a combination of cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, and technique. To have a successful test you will need all three of those aspects. One or two may not be enough to get a successful time.

What you will get out of a session:
Participating in this practice session will give a person one-on-one time with a trainer (that knows the CPAT test inside and out) to answer any questions you have, show time saving tricks to the course, and will conduct a coached-run through of the entire CPAT test. If weaknesses are shown, they will be able to give you some exercises to help you get ready to take the official CPAT timed test. The whole session should last about 30 minutes. After this session a person should feel confident enough to pass the CPAT, or know where they stand and what they need to do to prepare to pass the CPAT.

Things the practice session will not help with: 
The first station in the CPAT test is the stair machine. You will be given an additional 75 pounds (50# vest and two 10# weights added to each shoulder.) before you get on the machine. We can give you exercises to help you prepare, but there are no tricks to this station. You have to be able to last 3 minutes and 20 seconds on the stair machine.

What is the reason for waiting 8 weeks after Orientation to test?
The 8 week waiting period is set by the International Association of Firefighters. The association feels the 8 week period is a sufficient amount of time for anyone to prepare themselves properly to pass the physical ability test.

Can I waive the 8 week waiting period?
Yes. This is your choice.

Can I practice after I have attended Orientation and before I test?
Orientation is viewed online before testing at the link attached with your confirmation email. Practice sessions may happen after all have been tested, but you will need to schedule in advance with Marion Rodriguez 317-689-8702 or rodriguez.esec@gmail.com. If you pass, your CPAT card will be issued to you at that time. If you don’t pass, this will be considered one of your three attempts that come with your registration fee.

Do you offer private practice sessions?
We offer private sessions. Call, Text, or Email, Lead Instructor, Mario Rodriguez at 317-689-8702 or Rodriguez.ESEC@gmail.com to schedule an appointment. There is a $50 fee.

Can I take the CPAT test the same day that I attend Orientation?
Orientation is now viewed online  before testing from the link provided in your confirmation email

What happens if I fail the test?
You may re-test as many times as you would like. After Orientation Day, you schedule these tests by calling the ESEC office at 317-988-7703 or emailing beverly.jinkins@wayne.k12.in.us.  After three attempts the re-test is $75.00.

How long does the CPAT card last?
Expiration of CPAT cards are up to each individual Fire Dept. However most Departments accept the CPAT card for one year. You may re-cert with us.  The fee is $75.00.  You register online.

How long does the Orientation last?
Orientation is viewed online before test day.

How should I dress for Orientation?
Dress casual, long pants & tennis shoes are recommended because most people test after orientation.  No shorts!

How should I dress for the CPAT Test?
You must wear long pants (Short pants are not allowed). You must wear closed toe shoes such as tennis shoes (No open toed shoes are allowed).

How long will I be there for the CPAT test?
It depends on the number of people attending the test.  Once you finish orientation and testing, you may leave.  Normally everyone is finished by noon on a Saturday class that begins at 7:30 a.m.

Should I bring anything with me?
You need to bring a picture ID/Driver’s License with you.
